Born and raised in Co. Clare Ireland, Barry was introduced to golf by his best friend, David Foley. While visiting family, the two went golfing to Tipperary Country Club. On Number 7, from 155 yards, Barry hit a 3 wood forty yards left, only to watch it slice straight back into the hole. First round, first hole-in-one.
Barry is a certified Professional Golf Instructor, and his passion for golf, great sense of humor, and aptitude for teaching has led to instruction of over 2,000 golfers and a thriving business in his now-hometown of Warrenton, Virginia.
Barry attributes golf’s lifelong lessons for molding him into who he is today. When you get a chance, ask him about his father (aka golf partner, advisor, number one fan). He’ll tell you a story of fond memories and how his love for golf has led him to pour his heart into instruction.

As a former PGA Professional with the Middle Atlantic PGA, Scott spent more than 20 years working in the country club world, with his last position being as the PGA Director of Golf at Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston, VA. With over 30 years of teaching experience and more than 2,000 lessons taught, he works confidently with players of all ages and skill levels.
Scott’s goal is to help students improve every aspect of their game—from full swing to short game fundamentals such as putting, on-course strategy, and the mental side of golf. His current students include several Division I and Division III college players, a high school state champion, and a Division I conference champion. Additionally, he enjoys working with “the weekend golfer”; introducing beginners to the game as well as helping players of all levels develop solid fundamentals and confidence.
If you have an aspiring high school or junior golfer, he has experience guiding many through the transition to college golf. He provides insights into the recruiting process, helps with tournament schedules, and connects families with local college coaches.
Scott’s teaching philosophy is simple: there is no single “method” that works for everyone. He takes time to understand each student’s unique goals, strengths, and challenges, then tailors his instruction to help students perform at their best. His greatest strength as a teacher / coach is communication; translating the complexities of the golf swing into clear, relatable terms that make sense to each player.
If you are looking to take your golf game to the next level—or just start to learn the game, Scott would love to help you reach your goals.
Let’s get started!
